Message "FMIC? I say if you plan on putting down 600+, you better seriously consider it, especially if you live where it is hot."

I don't know how this got out of hand. I responded to Seedy's post and said I had done 850 Crank Hp with Greddy side mount intercoolers. Nothing more nothing less. I didn't say I recommend it, I didn't say they could do that on a Canyon run or on a Road course. I just said that *I* did 700+ Rwhp with side mounts.

Now.....most people that have to ask if a FMIC is for them or not have no clue what it takes to get to 600+ Rwhp. So the common answer to them would be "You don't need it". The very few on this forum and off the forum that are planning on or have put down 600+ Rwhp will probably make their own decision on what is best for their car since they will be educated enough on what it takes to get to 600+ Rwhp.

No one to my knowledge has dyno tested or better yet everyday tested to difference between a good side mount vs. a FMIC. What are the pros and cons? What is the pressure drop? What is the intake temp. difference? How does it affect spool up?? Until you or someone else tests these situations on a real car with no other changes involved then we are all just making assumptions and have no data to back it up. Comparing a single turbo *automatic* supra running nitrous, 3" piping, and a FMIC vs. a twin turbo 5 speed 300zx with side mounts is not a good test.
